Is being a mama worth it?

I am not sure that I ever actually posted this G-ism…I think when I first wrote about the story below….I just wrote about it under Gregory’s page (G-ism’s)…so…..below is one of my favorite stories….and wanted to share again for friends that never had the chance to read this one.

Gregory….as I have said is medicine to all of us…he just manages to make you feel better….his adorable little face….his big brown eyes hiding behind his glasses…(look for a great selection at prescription glasses from GreatEyeglasses.com)…..and his amazing vocabulary….to hear him speak at times is quite funny….for such a little one…you  would never expect to hear the words that he says…the sentences he produces…coming out of such a little one…anyway…hope you enjoy:

July 29, 2011: We went to the Yankees Game on Friday night….Gregory wanted to bring his glove with him…..he said: “I know I am going to catch a ball at the Yankees game Dad…..because I am really great at catching pop-ups!”

Well, Gregory did not actually catch a ball….but he left the game with a game ball….how?  Read below to find out…..I was actually crying….

The game had almost a two-hour rain delay….we were all wet and cold…..I was ready to go home by the sixth inning…they were not winning….and I was soaking wet…..well thank God we didn’t….

It was the top of the 8th inning….and Gregory had his foam blue Yankees finger on his hand….he held it up high….and was chanting: “Let’s go Yankees!”  He was incessant….he just did not stop……well about 15 minutes later I turned to my husband and said: “Is our entire section cheering with him?”  They were….he would say: “Let’s go Yankees!” and then everyone would clap twice….or hit their feet on the ground twice….or bang on their seats…..singing along with him….he would turn to the crowd and tell everyone to sing louder….”Come on  everyone!”…..priceless……then a man from about ten seats down….came up….and gave Gregory a high five….and picked him up in the air….and was shouting for him….telling him how awesome he was….and the crowd was clapping and cheering….of course I was crying…because it was priceless…..so sweet…..

To top off the night….a young man, probably in his early twenties…about three rows down….he catches a foul ball…..and the crowd cheers…”Give it to the boy!”…….well he did!……and my oldest son lifts up Gregory….and the crowd cheers more…..and Gregory says….”See Dad….I knew it…..I knew I would get a game ball!”   Probably one of my best memories ever….thank God we stayed for the entire game…..

And oh-yeah…it’s all worth it…

About Kim

My name is Kim Marino and I have been practicing as a licensed speech and language pathologist since 1993. I work on Long Island providing diagnostic evaluations and services to children from birth to age 21. My experience is vast and am proud to say that I work with children that may present with articulation and phonological concerns, oral motor feeding concerns, Down Syndrome feeding, cognitive rehabilitation, auditory processing delays, receptive language delays, cleft palate feeding and sound development and expressive language delays. Most importantly, I am the mother of four amazing children and am happily married to my childhood sweetheart. I feel blessed to have my four children and so lucky to share this journey in life with my husband. I always had it somewhere in my head that I wanted to develop a blog or a website of some sort so that I could provide families with an additional resource....so that parents could help their little ones become a better communicator. And as I was developing this blog....I realized that I also needed to share the stories about my life and my children....and the funny things along the way that help to keep me smiling. Whether you are a working mother or not...finding balance between home, children and life can be a challenge....I hope that my blog helps to bring a smile to your face..and also some tools to help you help your little or big one. I hope you enjoy! Kim
