I forgot about this book….my oldest son, Zach….was in first grade at the time…I think..it’s been so long.  He illustrated the book…and helped me to write the words….we self-published it….and I think we made about $20.00.  It was a fun experience…and I remember the local paper did a write-up about it.

When I went to Book Surge’s website…it said it was out of stock…but not because it was on back order…rather it never sold.  Then I went to Amazon’s website…and you can find one book for sale for about three hundred dollars…lol….very funny.  Anyway…I wanted to share with you.

Glad that I have the memory of writing the book with him…even though it never amounted to anything…it still was a positive experience that the two of us enjoyed together.

It’s Raining Acorns

…While waiting for the school bus a mommy and her son get “rained on” by acorns one autumn day. On this windy autumn day the leaves are falling from the trees, the acorns are falling like raindrops and the squirrels are eating the acorns. The boy and his mommy rush to the bus while getting acorn-wet and crunching the acorns with their shoes.

5Best childrens book ever read!  Oct 04, 2003

Captures a childhood memory wonderfully. Reading it brings you back to the carefree days. The illustration is delightful.

5Writing Workshop  Sep 30, 2009
By Craig
This book is wonderful to use for writing workshop. The co-author and illustrator is by a first grader. My third grade students loved to see that anyone can be an author. It is also great to use for writing about small moments/personal narratives. I would recommend this to any elementary educator who follows the writing workshop program.

About Kim

My name is Kim Marino and I have been practicing as a licensed speech and language pathologist since 1993. I work on Long Island providing diagnostic evaluations and services to children from birth to age 21. My experience is vast and am proud to say that I work with children that may present with articulation and phonological concerns, oral motor feeding concerns, Down Syndrome feeding, cognitive rehabilitation, auditory processing delays, receptive language delays, cleft palate feeding and sound development and expressive language delays. Most importantly, I am the mother of four amazing children and am happily married to my childhood sweetheart. I feel blessed to have my four children and so lucky to share this journey in life with my husband. I always had it somewhere in my head that I wanted to develop a blog or a website of some sort so that I could provide families with an additional resource....so that parents could help their little ones become a better communicator. And as I was developing this blog....I realized that I also needed to share the stories about my life and my children....and the funny things along the way that help to keep me smiling. Whether you are a working mother or not...finding balance between home, children and life can be a challenge....I hope that my blog helps to bring a smile to your face..and also some tools to help you help your little or big one. I hope you enjoy! Kim
